Context

The desire to explore is a key motivator of human action. In the future, motorhomes will play an increasingly important role in discovering the world. As they become more popular, the requirements for traveling on wheels are also changing: the aspects of safety and sustainability are becoming more important.

Campervans are built in an inside-out principle meaning the exterior walls of the vehicle are mounted to the interior in production. This leads to highly unsafe construction resulting in a dislocation of the entire cabin in a crash scenario.

Solution

The founder of FMH approached me to help him create a first vision of the more safe and sustainable campervan construction. A natural fiber composite, flax fiber is used to replace the non-recyclable composites and to create a more safe mono-hull like structure. I supported for filing a patent for a more sustainable and safe campervan assembly.
