Context

This project aims to identify new product solutions for first responders, commonly known as "bluelights," which include paramedics, firefighters, and police forces. The primary focus is on enhancing collaboration among these departments, especially during major incidents where efficient teamwork is crucial for resolving complex situations promptly.

Modern emergencies require first responders to swiftly adapt to diverse scenarios, ranging from traffic accidents to mass-casualty events. Leveraging recent projects and strong relationships, UID collaborated with local first responder groups to explore and develop innovative solutions. This 10-week project was conducted in partnership with FLIR, the global leader in thermal imaging products.

The Remote Incident Assessment system (RIA) is a light-bar integrated 360° camera pole mounted onto first responder vehicles. The operator in the SOS-center is provided with a live-stream of the situation on-site giving him/her a better overview of the situation. This allows for a better assessment remotely by the operator providing him with visual input and giving first responders more time on hands for the resolution of the incident.
